For most people it almost feels impossible to make time for ourselves especially after a long day at work. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, or just someone that’s always on the go, its hard for us to unwind, de-stress, & relax. I know that for myself, I’ve never felt it was important to settle down the chaos in my mind until I found myself almost passing out from over-exhaustion. With all the hectic lifestyles some of us live, I’ve learned that taking out a moment daily, even for an hour (for you moms that’s probably 20 minutes if you’re lucky) and use that time to deflect, let go, and take care of your mind, body, & soul. But sometimes, when you don’t have even that much, it’s really the little things that truly make a difference in the overall turn out of our day.

For me, I love to have candles all around my place. It brings in a sense of calmness and neutralizes the space instantaneously. I like calming scents, something more floral, ocean-like, or clean, as opposed to sweet and fruity or seasonal smells. I think when you are trying to come out of a stressful environment, that it’s important to feel like your home is your oasis. You shouldn’t feel like you’re adding negative energy in the place you should feel most at peace. Candles are a great way to bring warmth, light, and elegance into a space.
Another trick that helps me is making sure there are flowers or plants in my home. Even a small arrangement of flowers and a candle can make the vibe instantly feel more relaxing. Being a typical Taurus, the elements of Earth are truly how I can feel most grounded and centered, so by having a little bit of nature around me, it recharges my energy and I fuels my inner child. I grew up playing outdoors, with my best friend and I would always be in the grass, or pick flowers from the yard and bring them home. So this is the adult way of bringing nature back indoors.

*Little HOB Tip!*
I suggest putting these items in the area of your home you feel you relax in most. This could be your living room, kitchen, bedroom or even your bathroom. If you have a wooden decor tray similar to the one below, I suggest filling it with a floral arrangement, a candle of your choice, and even a coffee table book or some accent pieces such as crystals or a paperweight. Crystals are a great way to incorporate positive energy in your life without taking up so much physical space.

With Love & All Things Great.
